Paxil isn't similar to anything -- thank God!
Hi Paxiled,
I will ask him about that but he didn't say it was because it was another ssri, he said it was because it was because zoloft and paxil are so similar...
I don't know how long you were on Zoloft, but if it was a lengthy time, switching to a different ssri won't necessarily help you with withdrawal -- they are all very different drugs. You need to taper off one before you go on another. Since your doc doesn't seem to know this, I'd be wary of continuing with him or her -- an experienced psychiatrist should know better. Now again, I don't know how long you were on Zoloft, it might have been just a very short time, in which case the above might not apply. And by the way, the horror stories about Paxil are when you try to stop taking it, not while you're taking it -- that's very individual. But Zoloft can be difficult as well, which is why when you've been on it awhile you do need to taper off before starting something else so the effects of discontinuation can be separated from the effects of the new med by the monitoring physician.
sorry i just got this message from you - glad to hear you're doing a little better. i have no experience what so ever when it comes to medications, but please just know that i am always here to talk. i know how much it has helped me to post on here when i am going through a panic attack and what have you - so keep posting! :)
He started me at 10mg only because he didn't want me to get side effects and because he said its so similar to zoloft I'm already kind of build up.
Can you say what dose your Dr put you on?
It started working fo me within a week. We're all so different though so it may be less time or more time for you.
All meds come with possible side effects, even aspirin. The tiredness your feeling could be a side effect or it could be from having more anxiety.
Thank you so much for being so kind ! I'm woke up very anxious today as well , hopefully soon I will feel better!
Thank you ! I woke up this morning very panicky as well ... How long do u think I should give it? I'm so scared nothing will work! And there's so many horror stories about Paxil but I guess people don't really post about the good ones .. Also, I've been a lot more tired.. Will the side effects most likely subside as my body adjusts? So sad and scared and duscouraged'
just wanted to check in with you and see how you've been doing today since you last posted. i wish i could give you some advice, but i have no experience when it comes to taking medication for this. i was put on wellbutrin for four days and i quit because it made things worse for me.
but please, just know that you're in my thoughts.
I think you may be feeling anxious because of the med switch. These two meds are different though and your body is used to Zoloft. I took Paxil myself and did very well on it. It only took a few days for it to start working for me. Hang in there, okay. Let your Dr know if you are still feeling really anxious after a few days. I do think you will be feeling better soon though.
