What rights do I have being prescribed psych meds?

I have been on & off Klopin, xanax, even tried buspar. At first the xanax was becoming dependant, so I was switched to Klonopin because of the "half life", "up's and downs"....was told Klonopin was a longer acting drug. The klonopin became addictive and of course dependant. I was honest with my DR. about the dependancy and overuse, so now I am on Librium...which my DR wants me to taper off of over a period of time that I am a little confused about. Here is the GOOD thing. After years of trying all different psych meds for my PTSD/Anxiety, the Librium actually works better than all of them...I don't feel dependant, I take as directed, and FINALLY the PTSD/Anxiety is UNDER CONTROL....with out the typical BENZO issue...I take Lamictle, which I really don't know that it helps but DR INSISTS I take it, along with Wellbutrin, and a Concerta if I feel I need it. I am 35 this month, have struggled my whole life with Anxiety/PTSD, why do DR's always want you to try something else first even though I have had "Reactions", meds that DID NOT work....I feel like I have no rights or say what really works for me, the Librium has "CHANGED MY LIFE" do I have any rights at all, that I feel my PSYCH meds are finally working, and that I want to keep it this way?

Yes, you have rights when it comes to your medications, and ask your doctor "why" he would want to switch you from something that is working?  If you get no results find another psych doc who will listen to you.  Take care.

yes you have rights you need to tell your doctor that you feel this medication works and you see no problem taking it so he needs to explain why he wants to take you off it and if it isnt serious then tell hjim you dont want to change it keep me posted
