What will help?

I had been on Paxil for about 10 years and I believe it just wasn't working well enough.  I tapered off of it in about 3 months without any problems.  I have been off of it for about two months.  Two weeks ago our air condition system conked out and I had to replace the whole unit.  Spending $3000 kicked off an episode of anxiety that has lasted since then.  I'm coping but, I do notice that I don't feel the same as when I was on Paxil, so I guess it was helping a bit.  I'm considering asking the doc to put me on something else.  Paxil caused weight gain. (Ive lost 10 lbs since quiting)  I've heard Zoloft is better and may even Wellbutrin.  Any thoughts?

It depends on whether, known or unknown to you, depression is a problem.  Effexor is a stimulating antidepressant that makes some people, especially those with primary anxiety, more anxious, and wellbutrin is a very stimulating antidepressant.  Sometimes wellbutrin is combined with an ssri such as Paxil to combat the weight gain.  So you might want to try the Zoloft or maybe Lexapro and see what happens.

I also was taking Paxil and I switched because I gained 30lbs and had the shakes and some other weird side effects. I went on Effexor 37.5mg and did very well on it.
