Zoloft is

Its been a week since taking zoloft 3 days 12.5mg 4 days 25mg and after switching to 25mg I found that I have gotten a slight brain zap feeling of dizziness when I try to sleep and shortness of breath.

My anxiety physically has much increased although my head is calmer yet more stressed if that makes scence( like being nicer to me but having to much of 'norm' peoples stress. I also feel I am not numb but I dont have my anxiety feeling where it goes anxiety then a high like thing of excitment if I got good news. I think Im happier but now Im starting to get more aggitated. Im 16 and have had General anxiety for a while then I grew into social anxiety which is mild everywhere but highschool :/

So I guesse my questions are

Have you experienced this with SSRI'S? Is it normal or should I ask my doc to go back to my low dose? Also do you think Id benefit with klonopin prn I tend to get seriouse anxiety at time in school its alot worse then summer socially then generally. Any experiences would help thanks:)

I was prescribed Zoloft years back, and even tho' my doctor had me on a small dose of Xanax as well, it increased anxiety, and I never found it helped with depression.

SSRIs can be helpful, but each circumstance is different.  As you are feeling worse with increase, I suspect this is not the right medication for you.

Talk to your doctor.  There are many antidepressants on market now.  He or she knows your medical history as well as the specifics of the anxiety/depression problem.  Many times an  antidepressant will work best with an anti anxiety.

Agree that therapy....cognitive behavioral therapy is the norm now. Used to be called rational emotive therapy.  Whatever the name, a skilled psychologist will be helpful once the meds are working.    Good luck.

hi, i've recently been diagnosed with mixed anxiety/depression, and the zoloft/klonopin combo works for me. i take 2x50mg Zoloft per day, and 1mg Klonopin. Talk to your doctor, and see what he/she has to say about your case. Generally, SSRIs are tricky. For eg., I tried Mirtazipine, Citalopram, Effexor before I found that Zoloft suits me!
Best of luck. Oh, and try some CBT as well, it helps :-)
take care, now!
