Anxiety? Please help! Whats wrong with me?

Hello,
Im 23 years old, married with two young children. About early July I started having panick attacks out of nowehere. Before that I was perfectly happy. I would do anything not to feel this way anymore. Every day I wake up with chest pains and racing thoughts. Anxious, no matter what I do. I dont want to feel like this anymore. It ususally last all day. Its always there, some days are worst than others. Someone please help me! I dont really have panick attacks anymore but the anxiety is always there and it wont go away. Ive tried alot of meds, and i dont want to take them anymore because the side effects suck. I dont know what else to do?

Keep in mind, a wedding is still a stressful event, and even though you've been together for several years prior, it's a change that warrants some merit. There may be some underlying tensions you haven't addressed, or they aren't glaringly obvious and that can be triggering your anxiety.

One of the most effective ways of combating anxiety attacks are to tell yourself at the onset of one that it is not anything serious. Tell yourself it's an anxiety attack and ride it out, as though you're on a rollercoaster ride. It will be intense for a few minutes, but once it passes you'll be fine. It's not a heart attack, stroke, or anything life threatening. At the moment you are having you're attack I would bet there are thousands of others out there who are going through one at the exact same moment.

Try not to "fight" the attacks. That only intensifies them. You're body and mind are in flight mode, but there's nowhere to run, so you get these awful attacks.

The first time I had a panick attack, it was bad. For the longest time I didnt think it was a panick attack. I was driving and all of sudden my whole body went numb so I pulled over and my husband started driving. Then my hands cramped up to my chest and I couldnt move, I was pretty much paralized. My husband called an ambulance and long story short they said it was hyperventalation syndrome caused by a panick attack. I did take an adderall that day so maybe that triggered everything? I just want to feel normal again...can anyone help me?

No, nothing changed at all thats what I dont get. I got married in early July but we have been together 4 or 5 years before that so nothing really changed after we got married. I tried zanax, ativan and valium. I dont really like any of them, they make me tired and the side effects are worse than the anxiety itself. The "panick attacks" have stoped but the anxiety is worsening by the day. Ive tried exercising, relaxing and nothing makes it go away.

What happened in July or prior that may have triggered your anxiety? A major life change? Lose a close friend or family member? Sometimes it helps if you can determine what your anxiety triggers are.

Which meds have you tried? Were they prescribed by a doctor?
