anxiety at night only!!!!

I have been experiencing for the last 2 months a constant pressure, heart racing feeling that ONLY happens at night. The pressure I am feeling is like someone laying on my chest, feels like I have to push out to make the pressure pain a little more easier. I know I am a healthy person and this is the only thing I can think of. Please let me know if this sounds normal and if it is infact anxiety/panic attack or if I should see a doctor?

                                                                                                       Thank You,

if none of those help I also suggest, sented candles and dimming lights. it calms the mind.Would love to hear if any of those work for you. GOOD LUCK! =]

the person above gave great advice. a person who deals with anxiety at night should try to take extra steps to avoid their anxiety. obviously if you're an anxious person you can't just flop down on your bed, turn off the lights, and fall straight to sleep. you should do as the person above suggest and try to 'wind down' before going to sleep. then if you're laying there in bed and can't sleep after 20 minutes to a half hour...get up and watch tv some more. don't just lay there and let anxiety consume you.

other things you can do to help are avoid caffeine in the evening, smoking right before bed, and don't things that involve beeing too active. spend the hour before bed winding down. and again...watch caffeine. that really does do a number on your sleep if you have it too close to bed time.

and yeah you should get it checked out...but my guess is that they'll say you're ok. you're already inclined to believe it's anxiety related since you're posting in this forum, so odds are that's what it is, or else as already stated...it probably wouldn't just happen at night.

I get my attacks at night too!!!! around the same time, I think maybe you are thinking of it too much. try these cause they helped me:
1.) read a relaxing book
2.) take a hot shower
3.) go for a walk
4.) talk to someone on the phone (keeps your mind off it)
5.) watch a relaxing movie (comedy helps me)
6.) go on the internet and do something fun (I use photoshop to edit photos )
7.) if you have pets, cuddle them. talk to them (may sound funny but it really calms you down)
8.) if you have a pool maybe try to swim abit?

most of these are things i have done to calm my panic attacks
if you have had something tramatic happen lately that could be the trigger, it could be family, work, home life...anything can trigger them.

This is a very common symptom of anxiety. If it makes you feel better though, get it checked out by your Dr. I'm sure he/she will give you a clean bill of health.

If it were anything serious, it probably wouldnt just happen at night.

Good luck to you. Try deep breathing techniques.
