Worried about husbands meds

Hi. My husband,is 59 years old. He's been taking Wellbutrin for over 10 years. Recently he's been having problems with anger, impatience, depression, worry and anxiety. His doctor started him on Klonipin .1 mg.  My husband is very sensitive to all medications. It doesn't take much for him to have to just lay down and go to sleep.  I'm afraid this drug will put him out.  Is Klonipin a very strong drug? I realize he needs something because his symptoms are causing people around him to feel like we are walking on eggshells.

He's having worrys that many of us have..the future, no money, kid problems, health. Do you think this will help him to cope with things better?  thanks.  Donna

No problem at all. Let us know how he gets on. He might be a bit nearvous about taken them first off. Some people can be. First day nerves. Hope it all works out well for him and even moreso for the both of you in the long term. Always here if you need help.

Thank! It helps me alot to see that you are so sensitive to medicines like my husband is. Now, it's just a matter of fime to see how he reacts to it.  He's supposed to start on Saturday because he will be off work that day. Take care and thanks again. Donna

Thanks for answering me.  I'm go glad to hear that it helps you.  It will not only help him, it will help whoever he's around.  Right now he loses his temper at the drop of a hat and then says some really mean things and it turns into a visious circle. And I hate to see being unable to enjoy life.  Thanks again. Donna

I want to take even more of it. That shows what I think of it. I want to replace my afternoon valium with a .5 Klonipin. Love the tablet. Really does relax me. But not to the point of knocking me out. Most benzos are short acting tablets. You can only stay on them for a few months and they lose there effect. You get addicted to them. Don't get me wrong here. Klonipin is as addictive. But you can use it for over a decade and it is easier to wean off when the time comes to quit it. But make sure if your husband is on it for a long period time he never just stops. You can't do that. You will suffer withdrawls. Have to come off them slowly. But they are the safest and the best benzos around.

Agrees with MrGreen,

It definetly helps with the worry., and anxiousness. I am on a low dose and it does wonders. Very safe as well. I am also HIGHLY sensitive to medicine. I remember my doctor saying...Your sensitive aren't you!!!!. I said..No kidding. However there are medicines that i can take..Klonopin is one of them.

Best to you.

Klonipin is probably the safest of the benzos to take. They can be taken for a long time and don't lost there effectiveness unlike similar tablets. Different people react in different ways to tablets. I take 1.5mg of the same tablet and don't feel I need to sleep at all. But others take less and feel it makes them only want to sleep. Our bodies differ and the sedative nature of the tablet can do one thing to one person and another thing to another person. Oh the 1.5mg I take is twice daily. So that is 3mg per day. 1mg can hit some people hard. He will know soon enough. As the tablet normally takes effect straight off. If it is too much for him go back to your doctor and have it lower to .5mg. See how he fairs out on that. Just keep us posted as to how he is getting on.
