anxiety

I have been on the nuva ring (birth control) for about 2 yrs, and have anxiety now. Does anyone think that my anxiety has come from this birth control.

I have been taking vitamin b6, do you think this will work. and another question do you think thats why i always feel tired all the time, it seems like i can never get any energy. When i exercise i restore my energy and that only when i have energy. But i will purchase the rest of these vitamins.

the anxiety just didnt start, it started a littl time after starting the nuva ring i just didnt see it because it wasnt happening all the time. but now it is more noticeable and stronger and have saw that alot of people have started having anxiety with birth control and i was just wondering becaue i have never had anxiety in my life. and i know sometimes depression and mood swings can bring on anxiety. i have not use the nuva ring in two weeks just to see if thats it. I know i want see anything right away but maybe i will see some type of change.

Namaste,

The following information has been dervived from the full prescribing information for the NuvaRing, which can be located at:

http://www.nuvaring.com/Consumer/Global/prescribingInformation.asp?guid={43AD5458-821F-4BD2-80F4-5E125F4DBECA}&sid=55221308

The following adverse reaction has been reported in users of combination hormonal contraceptives and are believed to be drug related:

-Mood changes, including depression.

This is just one of the side effects and in no way should you construe that your anxiety is related to your contraceptive, especially since you have been using it so long.  Side effects usually occur early in use.

Actually, if you are suffering from what you describe as anxiety, in all probability, there is a separate cause.

Without a complete history, which would include all your symptoms and a thorough evaluation, it would be difficult to determine if you are actually experiencing anxiety, as defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM).

If you feel that your quality of life is at risk due to your anxiety however, I would encourage you to seek professional help from a mental health provider as soon as possible.
