Wellbutrin & Panic attacks

I've been on Wellbutrin XL 150 mg once a day for two days and got a horrible panic attack this morning.  Came without warning, is this going to continue?  I also take Klonopin 1mg/day but find it somehow weak. Doc won't prescribe a higher dose.

Also, doc said the Wellbutrin takes 4-6 weeks to take effect - I have a lot more energy now but it dissipates after noon and I slip back to the dark world of depression.

I can't see my doc until 11/16 so any advice from fellow sufferrers is appreciated.

Thanks!

The odd thing about these drugs is they can have the exact opposite effect while your body is getting used to them. I had the worst attacks in my while going on and off them.

Okay, then it's just a matter of giving the medication time to work.  If your doctor increases your Klonopin, this will help as well. Good luck and take care!

No, I'm being treated for panic disorder (had panic attacks first but they progessed to every day) so I guess you're right.  I emailed my doc to schedule an appt. as well.  Need stronger prescription for Klonopin and something to keep me asleep at night.

If you had panic attacks prior to this, then it's just that the medication hasn't had time to work.  If the panic attack is new, contact your doctor about it.

So you think the panic attack was just one of the side effects of the Wellbutrin?  Thanks so much for all your support!

It will take 4-6 weeks for you to feel the full benefits of the Wellbutrin.  I know it's frustrating, but try to be patient.  By the time you see your doctor the Wellbutrin will have reached a therapeutic level in your body, and this is the time to discuss if you are not feeling any better, or any side effects.  Just keep in mind that each new day brings you closer to feeling better.  Stay strong and positive, unfortunately this is what we have to go thru with these types of medications.  I wish you all the best, and do take care!
