I wish i could be more of a help to you, i have no knowledge of this medication however. My best advice is go back to see your doctor if this keeps up. They may switch you to something else that may work better for you. sometimes you have to experiment w/ different meds to find the right one for you. Not everyone's body is the same. Good luck to you, let us no how you are doing. keeping you in my prayers.

I took lexapro for only 5 days and had TERRIBLE side effects.  It still upsets me to think about it.  My anxiety has been worse since then (worse than even before lexapro try)  I now have to take .25 xanax twice a day to help with this heigtened anxiety. i AM PETRIFIED TO TRY ANOTHER SSRI

if you take 1 dose per day, you might be experiencing interdose withdrawal.
you could also experience interdose withdrawal with 2 doses per day,
but it's more likely with 1 dose per day.

A common problem with benzo's is that people often feel like they have to up their dose to achieve the same effect, because if they keep having the same dose at the same time their body asks for "more" as it's gotten too used to the drug.

interdose withdrawal could most definately keep one awake at night

Hello there,

There is no indication that Clonazepam can induce insomnia other than REM sleep pattern disruption.

You can try looking for Melatonin in your food supplements store or pharmacy. It is proven to help with sleep and sleep patterns and have many other benefits. Do a search on Melatonin on wikipedia to find all about it.

Please note that I'm not a doctor and if you are taking other medication you should ask your doctor if it's safe to take Melatonin along with your medication. Because it's natural doesn't means it can't interact with other drugs.

Best regards,
M4

Hi

Clonazepam is a long-acting benzodiazepine with no active metabolites.  Its half-life ranges from 18-50 hours, not 200 hours.  Diazepam and chlordiazepoxide have a 200 hour half-life.

Hi Joe,

I don't think it affects sleep, but I can only go by personal experience.  I've been on Clonazepam for 11 years and it has not affected my sleep at all.  In fact, I have slept pretty good until the last couple of months.  I've developed insomnia where I lay awake most of the night, but I believe it's another underlying issue which I'm trying to get to the bottom of through testing.

Hey Joe, please try to be understanding of people who are trying to help, but may just be naive about their information. Ok?  Now, instead of reading my post and learning, she may also get her feelings hurt and we really don't want that, do we?

Take care.......

Hi Joe......the above information is incorrect.  Clonazepam/Klonopin is a LONG acting benzo with a 200 hour half life.  I'm sorry, but I don't know why your having sleep issues.  Ryan?

Clonazepam is short acting, perhaps you might ask about Trazadone for sleep from your doctor.
