Paxil Withdrawls

I have quit Paxil cold-turkey 7 days ago.  I read in a forum about using Allegra (an allergy med) to help the side effects.  I have found that the Allegra really helps with the Zaps that occur.  My problem is I don't want to take one in the afternoon, evening because they will keep me awake all night!  Anybody got any night time ideas.

I will not take another Paxil - I will put up with whatever licks I have to take.  Any idea how long withdrawl symptoms will pop up.  Do I have them all now?  I've got zaps, occasional blurry vision, stomach cramps, the runs (this is new today and could be from something else).  It's the zaps and vision  seem to be my current problem.

Should I just take another Allegra and stay up all night?

I once made an appointment with a Dr cause  my head was doing wierd things (i  now know as "ZAPS"), facing going numb, blurred vision, etc.  He had no answer.  I got home and realized that the symptoms started when I quit taking my Allegra when the allergy season ended.  Wow, same symptoms...

That's when I decided to try the Allegra for the Paxil, problem.  Just to let you know, I ended up taking 1/2 of an Allegra and the symptoms went away again.  I woke up this morning feeling fine.  The zaps usually start late in the day and are not bad.

Just to reassure everyone....I have a doctor appointment Monday morning at 9am!!!  I will not, however, take another Paxil!  Thanks for all you help and input..

Hi vicki. I am also on Paxil. I tried doing the cold turkey thing too and know exactly what you are feeling. I went back on it and talked to my Dr, who is now weening me off Paxil by lowering the milligram from 40 to 30. I hope you can have the opportunity to talk with your Dr about maybe trying this.

Why did you stop Paxil?  As with any SSRI, it is not advised to just quit cold turkey; my suggestion is to taper off of it which would really help with many of your symptoms.  Also, I assume you have a prescription for the Allegra as well, but you might want to be careful what you read on forums on the internet.  I could type in 'cheeseburgers and paxil withdrawal" and probably get a taper schedule to follow. My point is, and this is just my opinion, that you should definitely work through this with your doctor.  Keep us posted!
