Thank you so much. Having a moment of temporary relief. have been able to swallow almost normlly for ten minutes watching tv trying to take my mind off it. so glad to talk to someone, normally i am in the height of a massive crisis and feel so alone. have been so sick so thank goodness am feeling sober.am not a drinker at all and as you both said drinking doesnt help really in fact it makes you feel more scared. This is the pits. My doc is not very understanding. i spoke to him about this and he said its physically impossible if you dont have an illness to stop swallowing, its a natural reflex, like breathing...he prescribed citalporam once a day. practiscing relaxation breathing. Thanks again, its so reasurringto have people who understand xxx

You're never alone, all of us have been thru this and many are still struggling, so we understand.  You're not a freak, as there are so many people struggling with anxiety and/or depression these days.  Two bottles of wine in 4 hours is dangerous, I wouldn't do that again!  Besides it can become a form of self-medicating which will turn what your enduring now into an even worse nighmare!  See a psychiatrist and go from there.  I do wish you all the best!

you are not a freak you are just scared, please do go to the doctors to get the once over, but to me it do sound like a panic attack followed by an anxiety attack, drinking wont help the situation it might feel good at the time but you will feel rough when it wears off.

Since you can drink wine okay which has a "temporary" calming effect on you, I venture to think it's anxiety.  Only a professional can tell you for sure, but if you can swallow wine, then you should be able to swallow anything else.  But you truly need to have this looked at to make sure that there's not more going on.  Sometimes acid reflux can make us feel like we can't swallow.  See your doctor to be checked out and go from there.  If it turns out to be anxiety then please come back, we have so many understanding and supportive people here!  Take care!
