depression

I have been living inside a shell for almost two years. I don't leave my house much. Don't attend family functions or visit friends. I am not afraid I just don't want to be bothered. I am in my sixties and otherwise healthy and life is passing me by,.I take a lot of meds for panic and depression, but nothing is really helping. i stay in bed most of the day...everyday. Please help.

Aaawww.... I was on the edge of the very same thing here recently.  How I am still fixing it is this: one small step at a time.  Tell yourself that it is YOUR life and you are free as well as safe enough to with it as you please.  Make small goals, like choosing to spend a bit of time in your local library, going for a short walk outside, making a short visit to a shop that caught your eye.  Know that these are safe and okay things to do, and once you feel comfortable with them, then spend more time 'out and about', enjoying your life!  Best wishes - Blu

sometimes the best thing you can do is to force yourself to go out. Be bothered to do it, make yourself even if you dont want to. try to get involved with things you used to enjoy, visit friends and let them make you feel better
