Some people just don't tolerate those kinds of AD's, which it seems is the case with you. While the older tricyclics tend to have a good bit of side effects, some people have better luck with them. It's worth talking to your doctor about.
Hopefully you can find something that works!!
Hiya, well i was on Paroxatine for 13yrs nearly 14yrs then had a long withdrawal with severe head shocks before finally getting off several months after starting tapering. Two months after coming off i fell very ill again and tried to go back on the paroxatine but around day 4 and 5 had a severe reaction, which my shrink says was Akathesia, so that was stopped day 5. My GP then tried me on Citlatropam 5mg no joy, then Sertraline, then Venafaxline, then escitatropram then most recently Fluocxetine. They are all SSRI's and a SNRI.
My shrink feels that it could be a reaction to the Serotoin that is casuing the severe, unbareable side effects, so im now thinking that a anti-d that doesnt have a direct affect on Serotoin may be the answer.
hiya, yes this is flucxetine. I had to be prescribed liquid form so i could start on a very low dose of 4mg/1ml and after taking the forth dose all hell broke loose.
I have heard of Claire weekes, i even think i may of read her book years ago. I will have another look. Thanks for the advice.
If you want to stay away from those kinds of meds, you still have options. You could ask your doc about trying the older AD's, tricyclic AD's, only problem is they were generally traded off for the newer SSRI type meds due to side effects. Still, a lot of people find success with those kinds of meds and do well on them. What kind of AD's have you tried thus far? Sometimes it is about finding the right med...what works for one person may not for another...it's a lot of trial and error.
Good luck!
I am not sure about the prozac one,is it fluoxetine ? i was prescribe this by the psychiatry who claimed i have depression or panic disorder but i never went to the pharmacy and collect it as i dont feel depression and lead a normal life apart from physical symptoms.
The psychiatry told me the ssri, fluoxetine are very good and not much side effects but i hardly believed they are more good but hard to say because everyone react to medications different.Have you read the book by Dr claire weekes, hope and help for ur nerves i think she explained the best way on how to cope and recovered from both depression and anxiety as she was once a sufferer herself too.
