would switching from ativan to xanax cause a major depression

I have been on benzzos for 18 years mainly xnax over this last year though its been more klonopin and ativan i know the klonopin depressed me but i was put on ativan in aug 08 and switched to xanax in dec 08 and im so depressed could it be the switch

Hi Hazy................I see you're still doing the "benzo bounce!" My advice to you has always been that you've been on the benzos way too long and that what you really should be looking into is some therapy. That is still, and always will be my advice to you. It is no doubt the benzos that are keeping you in a state of anxiety, believe that or not. I recommend (again) that you see your doctor for a check-up and a referral to a psychiatrist who can devise a safe and comfortable taper program and begin the work of getting to the root of your anxiety. You have been avoiding "something" for 18 years, isn't it time to take back control of your life?
You know I wish you nothing but the best, but you are not going to find what you're looking for in a pill bottle.
