I freaked out in the psychiatric's office last year. I was screaming at the nurse that I was having a heart attack and needed an ambuilance. I couldn't catch my breath, it felt like someone laid a ton of bricks on my chest and it literally felt like my heart was going to burst out of my chest. Luckily i was at the doc's and the nurse knew what was really going on. She helped me to calm down and in about 15 min that feeling passed. I had lingering chest pressure but that eventually went away too and a year later I'm still here. I would tell your doc about it. If nothing else they can help you realize that its just an anxiety symptom and help you to not worry about it. It always helps me when my doctor reassures me that my horrible ailments are just anxiety.
Thank you both for your responses. I will check with my doctor just in case. This is day 2 of having a really tight chest, and loss of breath...i think from my chest feeling tight
Yes, these are all symptoms that can be related to anxiety. Once the panic attack passes you should start feeling normal again, or at least not as squeezed out as you are now. In fact, many if not most people who suffer a panic attack often think they are having a heart attack and suffer similar symptoms.
Due to your age I truly don't think the chest tightness is anymore than anxiety. But any new symptom needs to be checked out by your doctor, we never want to assume anything new is anxiety. Many people with anxiety suffer from chest tightness, and yes new symptoms come out of nowhere all the time. I truly think this is anxiety, but run it by your doctor.....if just for your peace of mind. We're here for you.
