Ativan to help with sleep at night

I was taking xanax .25 mg to help me sleep at night but I am up and down all night. My dr suggested Ativan for sleep. Has anyone taken it, does it make you more goggy in the morning? He recommended  1 mg but I'm thinking that .5 mg is ok in the beginibg

I have tried both and like 1 mg Xanax EX better.

I try to take my 1mg Xanax early in the evening just to relax before bedtime.  (obviously did not take tonight)
The 1 mg Xanax Ex doesn't "put" me to sleep, but seems to help me get calmer SO I can sleep.  Does that make sense?
FOR ME Xanax easier to shake off in the morning -  and that was a bigger dose than Ativan, but everyone reacts differently to different medicine.

Good Luck

As a guy who takes Ativan, I agree with you that 1mg is probably a bit much for just relaxing so you can sleep. .25 mg or .5mg is about right.

Please try to keep all (or most) of your comments or questions to one thread.  You're posting multiple threads, all about the same topic(s) and it gets very confusing.  It will make it easier both for YOU and for us.

You can always start at a lower dose and go from there, but as always, communicate everything with your doctor.  Is your doctor recommending the Ativan to be taken at night, in addition to the Xanax doses during the day?

Anything to help reduce the severity of your anxiety is a good thing.
