It's very unlikely they will keep you overnight. They will rule out anything serious before concluding it is anxiety/panic. Most likely they will give you something to calm down and have you follow up with your presonal physician or therapist.
Even if they did decide to keep you overnight for observation, it would NOT be in the psych ward, it would no doubt be in SOU, the Special Observation Unit.
Has somebody "threatened" you about being locked up in a psych ward? If so, please talk to us, OK?
We are here for you.
Peace

Only if you present a clear danger to yourself or others will you be removed to the psych ward. They will NOT transfer you there simply because you have an anxiety or panic attack. Very few people actually like being in the hospital, most people are quite anxious about being there and anxiety and panic attacks are extremely common.
If you do need to go into the hospital for some reason, I would ask that you PLEASE advise your doctor about your anxiety/panic so that he/she can order something for you if you do have an attack, and it will be right there in your chart. Otherwise, the nurse must call the doctor, usually late and usually at home, to get his permission to give you something to calm down. Also let the staff taking care of you know that you are very nervous about being in the hospital. We deal with frightened and phobic people all the time and know many ways to help you...........don't try to hide it, only makes it much worse.
Why have you been fighting the anxiety and depression without meds?
Tuesday is almost here.......hang in there, OK? You'll make it.
Peace

As said,   you cannot be forced into any setting unless you are diagnosed as being a danger to yourself or others besides yourself.     However,   do you really want to get the help you need or keep putting it off?     And by the way,  that stereotype of a "psychiatric ward"  as being an out of control place is simply not true.    Do all you can to work on and resolve your issues as an out-patient.     As an in-patient,  you are more closely monitored.

That's simple, you have to be "wherever you feel more comfortable and secure". Nobody can force you to stay in a place where you don't feel good. Is your human right. So just ask for it. Unless you really have been medically diagnosed to be this way by specialists, it should be a very strong justification for this.

Blessings.
