xanax is the devil

For those of you who are taking this medication, please be careful. I have been experiencing its wrath for the past two days. I just began taking it, and lexapro, and I began feeling like I was on crack. I thought it was the lexapro, so I stopped both for a couple of days. Then today I took the xanax this morning and I promise this has been the worst day of my life. I have been nauseous, shaking, been in a complete manic state all day. It was horrific. Apparently my doc forgot to tell me that xanax can have the opposite effect on some people, kind of like benedryl. I wouls rather have the worst panic attack of my life then go through another day like today

I take 2mg xanax a day for about six months now, Just calms me down... say before I go for a long drive, or to an imporant meeting. before id feel like I was going to have a heart attack at the wheel, or pass outinfront of my employers.

I am sorry about your experience with this medication.  For most, it is a good short acting benzo for the treatment of anxiety.  Unfortunately, some people do have adverse reactions to certain medications.  For example, if I take certain antihistamines, I have some really bad reactions.  As always, stay in close consultation with your doctor regarding these symptoms and I hope you feel better!

That's strange.  I was on Lexapro for a few weeks and by day 10 your description was how it made me feel.  Totally wired out and anxious.... so I took xanex to calm me down.  I'm on Zoloft now.

I sure hope you feel better soon.

i'm sorry your going through this. xanax should calm you down but all people are different. i would'nt take anymore of them if they make you feel this way. have you tried any other antianxiety meds, there are others your dr. can try ? maybe you should stay on the lexopro and see how that goes. usually starting a new antidepressant can make you feel a little (strange) the first few days but this should pass once your body gets used to it. take care. remar
