med interactions

Dr prescribed me 100 mg trazadone to take at bedtime to help me sleep. How is that going to interact with my prozac? And is it ok to take half or even a quarter to start off with?

no I'm not taking prozac or any other AD....nursegirl is right abt the warning and IMO your pharmacist should have flagged this...so be sure and talk to them and your doctor too....

Yeah i had it filled already. I guess i assumed my pharmacist would tell me, but he didnt. Idk why? I plan on calling both my dr and pharmacist in the morning. Thanks for all your info! The bad thing is its money down the drain if i wont be able totake it. I have to remember to ask those sort of questions. Its me being naive i guess.

Actually, there is a major drug interaction between these two medications.  Have you had it filled yet?  If so, did the Pharmacist say anything to you about this?

I personally would recommend discussing this concern with your doctor and pharmacist before starting to take it, JUST to be on the safe side.  Let us know how it works out!

my psych also recently prescribed me with trazadone for sleep related issues....my prescription is for 50mg.
I haven't begun taking it yet but will withing a few days.....I always began ANY new medication lower than the prescribed dose than taper up...thats just me, and I my psych is aware of this. I prefer to allow my system to get used to anything new slowly.
However its always best in everyones case to check with their doctor or pharmacist.
