medications causing anxiety?

i am a 19 year old female and i currently take a few medications but I'm wondering if these could be causing anxiety and depression. i have addisons disease so I have to take steroids everyday, for the past year I have been on loestrin 24 e and also I was on celebrex but have since switched to meloxicam. I've been reading a lot about how birth control can cause depression and anxiety even after being on it for quite some time. Lately I am so anxious and depressed it's ruling my life. I can't make it through the day without crying and have since become afraid of being by myself in my house. The littlest things make me cry and then I get more upset because I'm crying so its just a vicious cycle. I've set up an appointment with a counselor but I'm curious if seeing my family doctor about stopping the birth control would also be something I should do. I don't really need the birth control right now anyways.

There are forms of birth control that don't involve taking pills, so you do have an option to stop them and see what happens.  But also consider that you're at the age when mental stuff hits us.  Time to talk to a psychologist, and google your meds and see what the side effects are -- maybe your instincts are right, maybe not.

I agree with Blu that you need to discuss this with your doctor. He/she is the only one qualified to know if this combinations of meds may be at the root of your anxiety and depression.
I'm sure your doctor will ask or no doubt already knows, but make sure she knows about every medication you take, and that includes herbal remedies and supplements.
Hopefully you may just need to have a dose tweaked, but your doctor needs to know what's going on as soon as possible.
I wish you the best.

I say copy your post and show it to your doctor. :-)  As far as birth control, I would normally recommend staying on it, but in your case, I am not sure that is best.  Please see your doctor, and let us know! Blessings - Blu
