not remembering when panicked

I have suffered anxiety all my life, and into adulthood, I started having panic.

I am a registered nurse and recently started a job in a rehab and nursing facility.  It was a very toxic environment with my ending up reporting conditions to the State Health Department and was fired.  My complaints of patient care neglect were validated by the State, but for awhile, I had absolutely no recollections of some things I had signed.  There were things that started jogging my memory some a couple of months later.  I know there are times that I have been in a threatening situation and I don't remember.  It seems like I just shut down if it is too frightening to me.  Would panic and anxiety cause this?

Thank you.

Thanks for your reply.  This is my feeling also.  I forgot to say that I am 50 prozac, .5 mg Clonazapin, and a generic for Ambien for sleep.  I know from the past depression has caused memory loss.  I know I feel foggy sometimes.  I can really sense the fogginess from the drugs.  Some days I am very alert, energetic, and if I am tired and something has bothered me that I ignore, I will feel foggy.

I went to see my therapist the other day.  He wants to give a memory test.  But I wonder if you are on drugs that make you nod off, how would you get an accurate interpretation?

Yes, its possible it could, stress alone can cause you to forget or only process the absolute most important things for your survival at that moment...

*Prayers for peace to you*
