panic attack??

In June 08 I suffered with my first panic attack and since then nothing has been the same. I had heart palpatations on a daily basis and was terrified of doing anything.
My symptoms have changed a lot over time, I suffer with this strange bubble feeling inside my head that prevents me from getting on woth my life, i was so worried about it that i had a CT scan, it came back normal. Ive also had ECG's and blood tests.
At the moment I am experiencing numbness, like my neck and jaw have been frozen, some burning pains, headaches and rapid eye movements. This has been pretty constant for the last 2 weeks.
Im also experiencing some strange headrushes, not like when you stand up too fast more like a zap. It fills me with fear every time it happens, its like theres something crazy happening in my head, it only lasts a few seconds but its so intense that i just have to screw up my eyes and put my head in my hands. It just feels like theres something going wooosshhh in my head and everything seems very unreal all of a sudden, Im frightened that it could be something neurological or a seizure. Ive had a simple neurology exam involving reflexes etc that all seemed to be ok. Is this just a strange type of panic attack??
Thanks.

Yea, I get all those symptoms too, and they suck!
Id have to say the worse part is the insomnia, or waking up constantly.
Lack of sleep really makes things worse, and makes our minds more fragile.
I would definently try some anti depresents/ anti anxiety meds just for a bit atleast to get you on the right path again.
THey put me on Trozadone at first, I dont know why, because from what I hear it doesnt really help with anxiety..and it didnt, it also didnt help with sleep, made my body feel drunk while I was awake and panicky.
Then they put me on Paxil, and after about 2/3 weeks I couldnt even funtion.
Finally they put me on prozac, been like 2 weeks, and I think this is the right one, I def. Know what everyone means when they say dont quit trying the anti-d's because they all work different, and some people tollerate some better then others.
I think My godsend, yet downfall at the same time was the prescription for Klonopins, they works really good. And I dont feel a buzz or anything from them...just normal
I try not taking them all the time though, and when I do its at a low dose.
I wish you luck in finding a good medicine in helping you through this.

Well I did try taking beta blockers for the heart palps and they just made me crazy so I stopped them. My doctor gave me Diazipam for when im feeling really bad but I try noe to take that. No other meds though. The doc says I could try some anti-d. Im probably going to need something to get through Christmas! I went to a CBT therapist but she was rubbish so Ive settled for some CBT books and an anxiety group that I see once a week. Im hoping this wont last forever!!

Oh, jakegorzen,

Yes I manage to sleep ok most nights but sometimes I might have really bad insomnia and jumpiness.

And yatta07,

I know exactly what you mean about the vibrating, almost like your pluged in! Can be bad when your trying to relax, I also get really jumpy and get extreme numbness!
I also find that when my anxiety is really high I feel as though I just cant concentrate, as if everything is difficult and my memory goes a bit fuzzy.

I am certainly no doctor, but it seems your body is having some extreme reactions to the stress and anxiety. A constant flow of adrenaline and cortisol wreaks havoc on your system. It can make your body go haywire. You have to be drained.

You cannot and should not keep living like this. Since your symptoms have been so bad for so long, you probably need some meds to tone things down for a while. Let your body recover a bit. Then, I would try and get some cognitive behavioral therapy. Meds are great but unfortunately they do not fix the problem. They just alleviate symptoms. Eventually you will have to face and confront the fear and anxiety with all the symptoms they present. CBT will help you do this. Meds alone will not help you do this.

Are you currently taking anything? Or seeing anyone for help?

I wish you the best. You do not have to live this way!

Hi niamic,

I know the headrush and the woooosh...feeling all too well! I too experience that daily and it comes along with vision disturbances and a weird unbalanced feeling (just in my head). I notice that, when it's happening, if I turn my head to focus on something else...it begans to lift all of a sudden. That's kind of how I know that it's nothing medically provoking these feelings. I too had 101 tests ran at 3 different hospitals and my results always come up 100% healthy. It's very disturbing and you're right; it does dibilitate you and keep you from enjoying life to the fullest...but somehow we must not let it take control. One day at a time, I guess....
p.s. do you also ever experience an vibrating sensation inside? Sort of like you're always on and anxious?

So you have anxiety 24/7?
It sounds like GAD "General anxiety disorder" with some health anxiety mixed
Those are all normal anxiety symptoms that alot of us with anxiety go through.
If you dont mind me asking, are you taking any Medication?
And how do you sleep?
