Wait and have the test re-done if you are concerned. HIV/AIDS is a frightening disease. Don't listen to those who act like "tough guys" about having repeated tests - and they are out there. There are also caring and understanding people who can give you reliable information about HIV/AIDS. If having the test re-done helps you - do it. I doubt they used dirty needles or anything but for those of us with anxiety, every frightening possibility comes to mind.
When I saw the movie "Philadelphia" about AIDS - I broke out into a rash which I still have and the chances that I have AIDS is zero. That is how powerful our minds can be.
Hi there, I cannot tell you how many times I have read this EXACT blog entry on this website. It's really amazing how alike anxiety cases are!!! You, I and many other anxiety sufferers have suffered this same paranoia... While I can tell you that Quest Diagnostics is a very reputable business, it won't make you feel better... If you really think that getting tested by your family doctor will make a difference, by all means- do it! However, I htink that you have health anxiety. Once this HIV fear is quelled, you will most likely develop a new one (as I and many other health anxiety sufferers have done.) I would suggest doing what you can to alleviate your anxiety for the moment, but I would definitely seek therapy.
Good luck!
