The best you can do is to relax and speak honestly about how your feeling. Sometime therapists can't help at all other times they can help you learn things about yourself that you would have never guessed.
You should find a therapist who your comfortable with and you feel respected by. You should also feel that you cant trust them wholly, because if your not being truthful or not telling them everything you should be they wont be any help at all.
Check out how long the therapist has been practicing, the longer the better.
The first session will not be like the rest of your sessions, if you choose to stay.
You'll be asked why you are coming to therapy, how your feeling, symptoms, whats going on in your life, health history (yours and your familys) The therapist might ask about your social life, childhood, ect. Anything that might effect why you were diagnosed.
This is all done to learn about you, to help the therapist gain an understanding into your situation.
Don't forget to ask questions. Ask as many questions as you want, ask if they have seen many patients with your issues, you can ask about their training...things like that.
the preceding sessions will be more focused on progress, any new problems, set back and the likes.
its nerve wracking to tell someone you hardly know things that you wouldn't normally talk about, but its easiest to jump right in and try to get the most out of it as you can, kinda like getting into a cold pool :) at first it feels un-natural but after awhile you'll warm up to it.
Good luck :)
