Klonopin - help please!

I suffer from anxiety / agoraphobia. I am under treatment - CBT and Lexapro. I was on Klonopin for about a year, then stopped and was doing fine for about two months. Anyhow - I had some major and some minor problems lately, so I started feeling overwhelmed with anxiety again. I started taking 0.5 mg Klonopin at night. Which my doc said is fine. And then I started taking 0.25 mg more, that my doctor knows nothing about - during the day - total of 0.75 mg a day. My doc is on holiday so I can`t really consult her right now, but I do need help. I`m wondering if I could up my daily dose of 0.25 mg to 0.5 mg - without any harm? So that I take a total of 1 mg a day. I`m so anxious that I`m even scared to make this decision myself, wondering if I`ll have a seizure or whatnot if I suddenly up my dosage!!! I`m so scared that yesterday I didn`t even take the 0.25 in the morning - resulting in me feeling even worse .... Don`t know what to do, please help! At least until my doc starts working again! :)

Thanks. Tho I`m not from the US ...  here where I am - pharmacists hand out antianxiety meds like candy ... Which is generally not good, I know, but there is no risk of me not getting a refill!

Consulted my doc - everything is okay! Well, apart from the fact that even tho I`m back on Klonopin, I backslid in therapy... But, I`m not gonna be a baby and I`ll pull my socks up and let my doc get some well deserved rest :)

I cannot tell you how much or when to take the Klonopin. I will tell you to take ONLY as much as your doctor has perscribed and not to mess with the dosage until your doctor is back!
Your doctor should know that Klonopin needs to be dosed at least twice a day. You could do some resarch on this through Websites like the Mayo Clinic, The Cleavland Clinic or Mass. General in Boston.
It's very good that you are in treatment and I hope you stay with it.
If you feel that you are really in a crisis situation, call your therapist, or your doctor's office. She should have someone on call who can help you.
Try to calm down...........I know it's very hard, but you ARE going to be OK!

No risk of seizure. The risk is CNS depression like respiratory depression. Very unlikely if you don't use any other sedating medications. It would be unwise for me to say go ahead and take more so wait to see your doc before taking more for 2 obvious reasons.

First you will end up with an empty bottle before the time for the prescription renewal. The pharmacist will tell you ''you're supposed to have ''X'' remaining if you followed the instructions''. They won't give you a renewal, they will give you some to avoid serious withdrawal symptoms until you see your doc. Second, any change in your medications and/or dosage should be addressed with your doctor.
