weaning off celexa

hey all i have been weaning down on celexa from 40 mg to 30 cause of "jaw clenching" was on 30 for 2 wks and tried going down to 20 mg and anxiety kicked big time. I think i was going to fast. I will see my doc in a week till then i would love some input on anyones experience with weaning. I went back up to 30mg and will see if i feel better
I also take 05 mg of klonopin in the morning with my celexa which is part of my routine. would love some input and support! I have been on ssri since sept.

thanks all and yes I am under the care of a doctor i will see him in  a week just wanted input and support from all of u great peeps! I took it upon my self to go from 30mg to 20 mg and thats when the axiety kicked in. I went back up 30 mg today to see if i feel better and will stay there tilll i see my doc next week

For sure make sure you notify your doctor and keep him updated every step of the way. Weaning is one thing that we need to have our doctors help and knowledge. Good Luck

I've been on Celexa for years and I also cleanched my teeth at night.  I discussed this with my Dr. because my jaw was sore all the time.   He had me try a mild muscle relaxant called Baclofen and it worked!  I am still on 30 mg. of Celexa everynight and the jaw clenching is all gone.  Good Luck.

I assume you originally were tapering down on Celexa under your doctor's advice....taking this into your own hands is not a good practice in my opinion.  I always notice side effects when I start, stop, increase dosage, or decrease dosage of SSRIs like Celexa.  I think the most important thing to do is to stay in close contact with your doctor; which it sounds like you are doing.  In the past, when I was bothered by withdrawals, I called and he put me on a slower taper, which seemed to work fairly well....keep us posted!
