Thank you for that I will look at your journal.... I was doing ok for a week opr so but now it is coming back it started last night and I woke up ok but its kind of kicking in I know that I am ok and I don't know why I am feeling like this ugh its so frustarting
Great advice Nursegirl! Many of us anxiety sufferers have de realization. I hope she reads your journal.
You sound like you are suffering from "derealization", which is a very common symptom/side effect of chronic anxiety. You can search the site here for valuable information about that. I've written a journal about it as well, a lot of posters made comments on that journal that are just wonderful. Read through it, I think you'll be relieved to read about the fact that you are experiencing a very REAL and very COMMON side effect of anxiety.
Click on my username, it will take you to my profile. Then click on "journals". You will find it there. Again, the member comments are the most valuable part of that journal. You will see just how many people live with DR and what people have done to deal with it.
The frustrating thing about DR is that it can stick around for a while, but once you start addressing the anxiety, it will eventually resolve. If you don't want to try medications, then definitely look into therapy. It's a must for addressing anxiety. You have to do something to start dealing with the anxiety, most times it does not go away on its own.
Good luck, let us know how you're doing!
Yes I am always feeling this way 24/7 nut at night my vision starts to get sharp and I start to feel anxiety I REFUSE to take any medication bc I am not trying to depend on anything to get rid of this I want to beat it on my own does anyone have any suggestions?
It sounds like you may have generalized anxiety disorder, which stays with you all the time but, it's worse at night. An I correct about this?
Ohh my feelings are worse at night...especially like around 7 or so...I'm better during the day and mornings--but night time--wow horrible
Thanks guys but the cbt is going to tell me the same thing as I been reading and trying to do that isn't working the deep breathing and distraction and tell myself I'm ok
I helpful tool is Cognative Behavioral Therapy. There are many helpfult web sites with workout sessions and information. One of them is http://www.moodgym.anu.edu.au/welcome . There is also a book called The Anti-Anxiety Work book By Dr. Matin M. Anthony and Peter J. Norton. My counselor recommended it. Got at at amazon for about $20.
I also would recommend counseling to help you deal with this. Anxiety can cause all sorts of feelings to include what you are feeling in my opinion. It is definitely initially scary and confusing, especially in the beginning and can make us feel seperated from reality. In my experience with this, counseling gave me the knowledge to confront and deal with it. In the beginning, I was also extremely against taking any forms of medication, but eventually decided to and they have helped me tremendously, but whether or not to take medication is a personal decision, but I always advise keeping an open mind about it. Having said that, I also believe that regular counseling is also the most important step you can take in confronting this....keep us posted.
I understand what you're talking about. We can have more anxiety at different times of the day. Mine is worse in the mornings. Do you have any idea what could be bringing it on at night? Do you drink a lot of caffeine. I'm reaching here but, you would be surprised at what can cause our anxiety. Are you afraid of the dark and night time? I would recommend counseling. Meds could help but, you sound like you do not want to take anything.
