xanax

Hi everyone, I have a huge anxiety problem that stretches back to childhood. Without going into detail I am flying o.s in a weeks time and terrified of the whole  experience not just the flight. I have been prescribed 250mcg xanax. Dr has said to take up to 3 as initial dose to get on the plane and then 1 thereafter as needed. Am i able to relieve symptoms quickly and for how long. If I don't need it after the first day is it
ok not to take or do I have to continue daily to get relief.

yes! mammo said it perfectly. take it if needed! xanax is one of the hardest benzos to come off of b/c of its' short half life.

And what I mean by "come off of" is if you use it daily for more than 2-4 weeks. A lot of people start having physical dependency withdrawal after 4 weeks constant daily use, and don't know it.

This happened to me with Ativan.

I'm luckily weaning just fine though, so far... KNOCK ON WOOD.

My psychiatrist has be on 15mg of Remeron to help with the w/d process.

After taking these benzodizapines like ativan, xanax etc. for a long period of time, they can turn around and bite you in the butt!!!

Sounds like you are doing great and are cautious about taking it. So you are fine! =)

Hi.  Xanax is prescribed to take "as needed" so you don't need to take it unless you feel you need it.  The medication gives quick relief, and it only stays in your system for a few hours.  If you don't need it, you don't need to take it.  Hope you enjoy your trip!
