I am afraid to be alone

why am i so afraid of being alone, the fear off solitude.  I have friends and family but I hate when they are not here with me and I am alone in my apt.  I just got my ankle sprained and my elbow and left wrist sprained also and I am in the house and im alone.  my daughter has been coming on the weekends and my granddaughter but when they leave I fear teh solitude and when my friends come down during the week I also fear solitude when they leave.  I wish they could stay with me.

I am taking xanax and it calms me down, I visit my neighbor and talk and that helps so when I do come to my apt I feel better.  I do not have insurance and I obtained this xanax when I was just laid off from my job.  Since then I had injuries to my wrist, elbow and ankle all sprained and I have to stay home and get well.  Since I have had this fear of being alone and I try not to let it get to him because I feel like I am going to be like this and never get better and stuck in this apt with this fear.

Asking them to stay with you or asking that someone stays with you shouldn't be an issue but the issue is...you will have to be alone at some point, a fact I know you are aware of. This is a common fear, many persons prefer to be in the company of others and dreads the moments they spend by themselves but when it turns into actual disruptive fear within yourself, you know something has to be done about this.

Are you taking meds? If no, it would be a good idea to see your doctor so that he/she can prescribe meds to help you with the anxiety. If you are already on medication, still go to the doctor and voice your fear and your concerns. Talk therapy also would do wonders for you as you and therapist can work to tackle this issue head on. Gradually, you will deal with your fear and soon it won't be a fear anymore.

Please take care.
