thank you both for the answers. Trudie I will seek out a new rheumy. I am so sick of being tired and feeling bad all of the time and no one can tell me why. What made me question my doctor is my oldest daughter is having problems and I took her to an allergist/immunologist. I was telling him about the Uveitis and he said that it is almost always associated with an auto immune problem. I think so too because I have times where I feel better then I get bad again but I never feel as whole as I did before any of this started. Thank you so much for the advice. Take care!
Also, ask for a biopsy of your rash as that can help speed your diagnosis. And, going into the sun before a blood test can help your blood to show positive.
Your doctor is wrong. My ANA and RF factor were positive one time and then negative. At first my rheumatologist wasn't sure if I was developing rheumatoid arthritis or Lupus but started me on Plaquenil and NSAIDs since that is the first line of defense for both. My symptoms are developing into likely Lupus with the butterfly rashes and mouth sores. The plaquenil is keeping my figures negative. I also have fibromyalgia which muddies the whole thing. I do get vertigo (went on serc to help) and I find that even after the bad flare with the vertigo that I still get periods of dizziness and ear pain. I'm not sure what it is due to.
It is normal procedure for a doctor to continue to test your blood to see how it is developing. It is also possible to have lupus or RA without a positive blood test. Are you seeing a rheumatologist or just your PCP? Push, push, push and get to a good rheumatologist.
I believe that Drs can make mistakes and results can get misinterpret. Does not happen often but I know it happens. I have LUPUS and I dont brake down with rashes like that, sun makes me very tired. I also have MS and I get the leg weakness, extreme fatigue, bad vertigo. I think you can ask to have the ANA test again, also have a spinal tap and if both come negative you will have to go in a different direction.
Wish you the best.
