So my question is.. does anyone here with dysautonomia especially POTS have a job and if so what kind of work do you do? Ive been unemployed since april because I was pregnant and the doc told me i shouldnt work anymore but now i reallyyyyy want to go back to work! only problem is that i was a waitress and im not too sure i can do that anymore. OKAY i cant do that anymore lol but does anyone have any good ideas of a job i could get ..something part time * i have a newborn to take care of so i cant work fulltime* and i seriously dont want to go on disability atleast i dont think i really need to as my main symoptom is dizziness but im *thankgod* *for the most part* still able to function ..thanks in advance for any ideas :)

Good for you that you are able to be able to work :)
For me though...Even sitting at a desk for to long..or just sitting anywhere to long can cause me to Pass Out!  I also have NCS.

In fact one of my Syncope episodes (which led to being hospitalized) was from me sitting at the computer desk...and it was for anly about 10 -15 min if that.....then...lights out!

So good for you that you are able to still be in the work force! See just w/ a dx of AD does not mean that ALL of us will be out of commission....lol

Hi there! I have NCS as my official diagnosis although I suspect there is more going on with me. I've been off-and-on short-term disability. I actually work in a call center which is a desk job. I would say it's ideal for someone suffering from my condition. The only drawback is I'm ALWAYS on the phones and if I feel like I have to lay down I need to get special permission to get off the phones or prop my feet up on my desk and make due in my little computer chair. I work for a big company so it's quite a trek to get from my car to my desk and that's the worst part. As long as I can make it to my desk, I should be okay.

I recently started taking Ritalin and it is the best! It's been about a week now and I've felt great! I have more energy then I've had since Jr. High =] I'm not sure how it will be in the long run and I haven't tried pushing myself to exercise yet. The most I do is walk up 4 flights of stairs in the parking garage at the end of the day IF I feel I can handle it that day. Usually by the time I get to the top my heart is racing and I feel like hell, but I want to prove to myself that I can do it. I'm very stubborn.

At night once the Ritalin wears off, I crash. I was walking through Target last night when it happened and I had to go out to the car and lie down and wait for my fiancee to finish up. It ***** to crash but it is so refreshing to have some semblance of a normal day! Hope this helps!

   Hey there :)

Good question!  I have not been able to work for the last couple years do to syncope (from what noe I know is dx as NCS), Fatigue (Extreme), Balance issues, and cogitive problems, along w/ a couple other things.  BUT, I have both MS and NCS and it seems they are always acting up like crazy.

I know what you mean about wanting to go back to work!  I want to so badly I can't stand it!  On a day where I have say......an hour or two that I may feel somewhat normal (normal for me is like someone else coming down w/ the flu..Lol)  That's when I "THINK" I am able to go back to work. only, after to find either I am near syncope, just plain dizzy, internal tremors start....and so on!

Certainly a SMACK in the face to me!   So, for now, I am goin to try and do something on my own to make a few bucks here and there........I'm trying to settle in to the fact that I may never go back into the "Workforce" again.....Kinda Hard to swallow.....At least for me anyhow.

Hope you can find something that will work best for you and your situation :)
