Best Way To Lose Weight With This Disorder?

I was diagnosed with Dysautonomia 3 years ago. I've had symptoms for most of my teenage and adult life. It not only plays havoc with my heart but my hormones (menstrual cycles, etc) as well.  I was always underweight but after several operations about 8 years ago I gained a lot of weight (about 80 lbs). I have a terrible time trying to lose the weight and my doctor says that if I don’t lose the weight my symptoms will not improve. Most people I’ve run across with this disorder are under weight.  I try to exercise but it exhausts me and I pass out real easy. I see Doctors in Birmingham and they say as long as I take the medication and do aerobic exercise (no weight bearing exercise) the weight will come off. It is not happening, if anything I’ve gained more weight. I recently became engaged and although my fiancé loves me just the way I am, I’d like to lose some weight over the next year.  The doctor also says I must lose some weight before I can start any type of family planning. At this point I am pretty desperate.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you Christy.  Makes sense. The water keeps your body cool.

My son's doctors want him to do water jogging for exercise.  He has lost 10 pounds this summer doing that 3 - 4 times per week.  He had put on 50 pounds in a little over a year(he also grew a couple of inches, but not 50 pounds worth) from inactivity.
