POTS and palpatations?

I've been having a lot of palpatations last night and today. I don't feel too bad...just really nervous when my heart is fluttering! My rate is controlled on my meds. I did have a weekend in the sun and drinking...oops...trying to stay calm but it is difficult. Does anyone get bad palpatations with POTS?

Thanks Tonya!
It always helps to hear that someone else feels the same and that it TRULY is nothing to worry about! I'm working on that right now:) If I can get passed that and the dizzy/tiredness thing when I wake up then maybe I can be ok:)
Hope your feeling well and enjoy your week (hot I'm sure)

   Hello,

It is Very scary when you get palpatations, No Doubt!  I think that a warning sign that things were "Out Of the norm" would be if you get the palpatations and it tends to last and heart rate increases w/ out stopping.  This would be a Warning Sign! So try not to worry to much....

Otherwise, when I get them i either cough really hard or I bare down (as if you are trying to use the bath room) and that usually helps to get it back on track. it is one of the Uglies that we have to try and deal with.

When you get anxious about it though, that 'Fear on Fear" thing happens a tends to make it a bit worse. This took me years to realize and get under control. Now when I have an episode, I cough hard and remember that it won't last long!

For me, Mine feels like a couple of different ways.

* It feels like my heart is flip flopping around freely in my chest
* It also feels like it rares up really fast and then it slows down to almost a complete stop and then V..E..R..Y....S..L..O..W..L..Y...starts beat back to a regular beat!  Scary feeling for sure!

I would say that if you have any change in any of your sx then always let your Cardio doc know :)

Take Care,
~Tonya

Thanks for your advice! I have had them checked out before. I wore a 30day monitor last year and 2 week one a couple months ago when my symptoms started back. Both times my doctor said I was fine. The palpatations don't usually last....but they are frequent and I do get scared w/a VERY extensive heart history in the family. I guess I just need to remind myself that it is related to the POTS and nothing else.
What symptoms do you typically have? It eases my mind to know that I'm not the only one and to know that I will be okay:)

Hiya,

I experience many palpatations in which I am told is due to my POTS - these have been looked into and I am told they are benign, you will find this as one of the more common symptoms.

Have you had these before?  If not then it would probably be best to get these checked out with your doctor.  But if you do get these and they have previously been checked then maybe the sun....and drink....:) x have left you a tad dehydrated.  I find if I am low on fluids that I do experience more palpatations.

Do try and stay calm, maybe try some relaxation and you may find that this eases them x
