blood vessel in toe
my husband cut the side of his foot. there was what looked like a blood vessel that he pushed back in then butterfly stitched closed. now his toe nail is turning black. could he be bleeding inside?
just wanted to update you, my husband cleaned foot with 10% bleach solution and let foot heal from the inside. looks real good and the nail is now a lighter color. thank you again for your help
thank you very much. getting him to go is the trick. the toe itself so far is not turning black just the nail. he closed it immediately and cleaned it with bleach solution. he has promised to go if any changes.

If the toe is turning black it can be due to a cut off in blood supply causing low oxygen or it could be due to a nerve injury or the third possibility is gangrene.
You need to rush to an ER or consult a doctor immediately and get this investigated. The stitch would need to be opened and the wound examined. Take care!
