I prefer lemonade... and if you freeze it, a peecicle. Freeze if you hold it for more than a day (thaw in fridge before giving to lab if local, but if mailing, send frozen).
To be more discrete - use a cooler, and a designated bathroom where you can keep the hat in the toilet, and all the stuff you need, and the cooler is right there so you can pour, rinse (don't use soap until it is all over, lovely, so there is no contamination) and set up for the next one. I keep ice packs (the cooler things) in the freezer, put them in a plastic bag (in case the jug leaks) and have enough to make sure the jug is cool if not cold. I have a friend that uses the cooler (a soft one) to take it to work!
Alas, when it is all done, my hubby just loves the jug there too... :)
It's kind of gross, and I had house-guests at the time. Running to the fridge with a cup of pee every hour would have been so delightful for them to witness. I don't know if I wasn't told, or if my sub-conscious screened, out the bit in the test instructions which would have told me to have a huge jug of urine in my fridge. Anyone for apple juice?
There are others, too... but alas, even after my adrenals are gone, I still have to do 24 hour UFCs - so been doing that test for 15 years or so... NOT my fav.
Hey, thanks Rumpled. I've read your story in these pages and if anyone knows what can go wrong, be missed or ignored, it's you!
Even if there is preservative, keep cold cold cold! It will degrade, and the results will lower.
I speak from sad experience.
Thanks for your helpful comment. I was given a liquid to put in the container. Maybe that was so it didn't have to be refrigerated. I'll have to chek it out. Thank you.
When I had my 24 hr urine cortisol test done they gave me some kind of powder to put in the container so that it wouldn't need to be in the fridge. I'm not sure if this is right but that was my experience with the test. Hopefully others will pipe in with opinions.
