Benign Results for Microcalcifications

The day has finally arrived and I received my pathology results from the stereotactic biopsy done last Friday...B9! I am so relieved I can't stand it. I have been worried since July and can finally relax! In fact, I had to fly to Hawaii for the biopsy from Japan and now the beach actually looks appealing. The stereotactic biopsy had me the most frightened as the last one I had done in Atlanta was so very painful as they could not numb me. I took a xantax before the procedure and the doctor kept reassuring me that it will be fine. They numbed me with 10cc of lidocaine and I didn't feel a thing! What an easy procedure. I am so glad I didn't insist on the excisional.

I was hoping to go home today; however, the doctor is concerned about the 2 lumps on the left breast (stereo done on right breast). I explained that the stereo doctor performed an ultrasound on the lumps last Friday prior to the biopsy and found nothing; however, the doctor yesterday insisted on an MRI as the mammogram AND ultrasound can miss lumps and it is a rather large 5 cm lump. So, I must remain in Hawaii to have the MRI done on Monday. I am actually very relieved that I have reputable and knowledgeable doctors caring for me especially since I have a family history of cancer (mother and sister had ovarian cancer).

Good luck to all of you as you are waiting for results.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Bernice

Congratulations ... it's been a long, long road for you but now I think it was well worth it, right ?? It's a good thing to remain for the additional testing .... considering how far you have to travel for adequate medical care. Once again, I'm so happy for you and thanks for getting back to us.
Hope you had a pleasant Thanksgiving ....
