Birads4- undetermined

Hi, I had my very first mammogram and then I had to go for additional testing. Ultrasound showed, 1.4cm well defined mass on tail end of left breast. Says its birads 4 recommend biopsy, says its undetermined. What are my chances? I know I am going through pre menopause and my breast both of them are tender and feel heavy, in my left breast I do feel dull pain once in a while esp. when I am getting my period. I am 41

Sounds as though we are thinking along the same lines  :)  ..  Best of luck with the biopsy and please let us know the results. Take care now and continue staying positive.

Thank you for your input. I am trying to stay positive, I have no BC history in my family. My results indicated well defined but hepoechoic mass lesion. The radiologist said to me she thought a biopsy would be good and she feels it is benign.

Since this is your first mammogram and there is nothing to compare this finding to It definitely needs to be investigated. The feeling you describe in both breasts as well and the dull pain have no relation to Breast Cancer but most likely to hormonal changes. This may well be either cyst or fibroadenoma  and as far as your "chances" and I assume you mean that this may be malignant ..... that's the purpose of the biopsy. I would certainly say that more biopsies return negative results than positive for cancer but anything else would be a "guess". I applaud you for getting started with mammograms and hope you will follow through with yearly filming as well and it appears that you are receiving excellent Medical care. Proceed with the biopsy and we here wish you good results. Please come back and add a comment when you get your results OR if you have any other questions or concerns.  Regards .....
