Breast Cancer question

My Mom was originally diagnosed with Breast cancer in 2003 at stage 3/4. She had a radical mysetomy done where 24 lypmh nodes were removed and 7 had cancer cells. She went throgh aggressive Chemo, followed by radiation. In 2008 she had a lymph node swell up, to our surprise it was a recurrence of cancer agin. However, after a biopsy was done and radiation, she was given an all aclear. Now at this point she has been told that it has came back and metastasized through out her stomach, possible liver, etc...The oncologist she's attending wants to give her the Gemzar and Carboplatin, without having current blood test and an updated PET scan.(which were not comfortable with) She has heard about a new treatment by the name of "cyber knife", that seems to get good results, and we need some direction and hoped you could help. Thanx, Stacey Atalnta

Cyberknife is used primarily for mets or primary cancer of the brain where one small area can be dealt with by this method. When there has been mets to the abdominal organs, Chemo is usually the treatment of choice. I'm sure there has been sufficient testing done in order for the Dr.s to know that the stomach and liver are involved and these are areas that could not be "cut out" by the cyberknife technique. I would certainly abide by the recommendation of the Oncologist and be as aggressive with treatment as he thinks is safe in her particular situation.  Kindest regards .....

First all of a want to tell that please consult with cancer specialist. We know the Benefits of Cyber knife Treatment for Breast Cancer. Cyber knife’s treatment is an out-patient procedure, completed in as little as five treatments. No anesthesia is required and the treatment process is painless and comfortable. In contrast, breast Brach therapy involves the surgical placement of a catheter into the breast tissue.
