Fast Growing Fibroadenoma

I'm scheduled to see a breast surgeon on the 14th of this month for consult on possible excision of a large fibroadenoma.  I am feeling a little nervous about waiting two more weeks since this one seems to be growing faster than normal.  It feels kind of tingly and doesn't feel uncomfortable unless I feel around it.  I've had my husband help me track the progress of its growth.  He is also concerned about how large it is.  I woke up in a cold sweat a couple weeks ago, but am now just dealing with my temp going up and down and generally feeling very fatigued.  I also have swollen glands.  I suppose I just have something viral, but the timing makes me more nervous.  I called the surgeon's office yesterday to see if I could possibly be seen sooner, but she is completely booked.  She's very good and I was warned that it's hard to get appointments.  Should I try to see someone else sooner?
Many thanks.

Thank you very much for your message.  I will make some more calls today and see what I can get accomplished.  My gyn is very proactive and determined I need to see a surgeon, so perhaps she can make a call on my behalf as well.

Hi.
I agree with your decision to have your breast mass biopsied.  The specimen is then sent to a pathologist for evaluation.  That will give you a more definite diagnosis, and will tell you whether there is a need to do further treatment or not.  If it can be done the soonest possible time, that would be even better.  You may want to go to another equally good breast specialist for consult if your present doctor cannot accommodate your request.
Take care.
