WHEN MY MOTHER HAD BREAST CANCER AND HER BREAST WAS REMOVED, SHE WAS GIVEN 6 CYCLES OF CHEMO AFTER WHICH THE DOCTOR TOLD HER SHE WAS CURED.  BUT AFTER 1YEAR 8 MONTHS THE CANCER CAME BACK AS METS.  LATER WE CAME TO KNOW THAT SINCE SHE IS HR2+ HER CANCER IS AGGRESSIVE.  THE DOCTOR KNEW THIS AND HE ALSO KNEW THAT AFTER A PERIOD OF 1.5YRS THE CANCER WILL STRIKE BACK BUT HE DID NOT WARN US SO AS TO LET US BE AT PEACE WITH THE SITUATION, THOUGH HE KEPT A 3 MONTLY CHECK UP ON HER. IF ONLY HE WOULD HAVE TOLD US THAT INSPITE OF THE BREAST REMOVAL AND CHEMO WE WERE AT HIGH RISK PERHAPS WE WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE CAREFUL ABOUT HER IMMUNITY AND DIET AND PERHAPS TRIED ALTERNATE THERAPY BEFORE AS WE ARE DOING NOW.  WE WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE CAREFUL.  NOW DUE TO HER WEIGHT 37.5KGS AT 5FT HEIGHT, WE ARE TREATING THE METS WHICH HAS GONE TO HER LUNGS AND BONES AND LIVER WITH XELODA 1GRAM TWICE A DAY FOR 14 DAYS, AND THEY SCARED US WITH THE SIDE EFFECTS,BUT WE ARE ALSO GIVING HER HOMEOPATHY.  WE ARE GIVING A GOOD NUTRITIONAL DIET ALONG WITH A PROTINEX SUPPLEMENT.  ON 5TH OF FEB IS HER APPOINTMENT WITH THE ONCO.  I HOPE XELODA HAS ARRESTED THE GROWTH OF CANCER CELLS.  IF IT HAS CAN YOU TELL ME HOW MANY CYCLES CAN SHE TAKE WITHOUT IT DOING MUCH HARM.  ALSO BY THE GRACE OF GOD SHE HAS NOT ENCOUNTERED ANY OF THE SIDE EFFECTS.  A LOT OF LOVE, CARE AND PRAYERS ARE GOING ALONG WITH THE TREATMENT.  I HOPE GOD DOES A MIRACLE THIS TIME. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF TAKEN FUTHER WILL XELODA HARM HER, SINCE THE FIRST COURSE OF 14 DAYS HAVE BEEN TAKEN WELL.

In my opinion, NO .... I'm sure there are others who would disagree with me but only conventional therapies have been proven to treat cancer. There may be some measures that would provide some comfort but one should NEVER try anything without first consulting the Oncologist as many things may interfere with the current treatment.    Kindest regards ....

OKAY, NOW KINDLY LET ME KNOW ABOUT THE ALTERNATE THERAPIES LIKE HOMEOPATHY AND AYURVEDA.  DOES IT HELP.

There would have been nothing that you could have done to prevent te mets ..... once you have been diagnosed with breast cancer there is always the chance that it may either return to the breast (recurrance) or metastisize to other organs. Diet and alternative therapy would not have prevented it's return. If she were Her2 + then she may have received some benefit from treatment with Herceptin but that is certainly no guarantee. As far as her present treatment; this is a question for her Oncologist ... only he/she knows the complete medical history and has access to any testing that will be done during her treatment. I object to your statement that the Dr. KNEW that the cancer would metastisize in 1.5 yrs.following her previous surgery ... this is something that can occur at any time .... and NO ONE knows when or if this will happen. Each pt. and every cancer is totally different as is the response to the treatment.  Kindest regards .....
