Hi
I had 3 areas of clustered calcifications on my right breast after finding dcis on my left breast.  I had them biopsied in 11/11 and mine were atypical hyperplaysia.  I decided to do bi lateral mastectomy at that time to hopefully prevent any cancer from forming on that breast and hopefully to prevent any further cancer from the left breast.
A lot of the biopsies come back benign wishing u the best of luck.  Hang in there!

I had a mammo and sono 10/11 diagnosed with microcalcifications. Biopsy showed atypical hyperplasia.  Had surgery. 10/11 mammogram and sono showed same microcalcification same site same breast. second biopsy diagnosed LCIS. I am on Evista and following up with mammo and sono every 6 months.

Hi!

I had calcifications in my left breast that were followed every 6 months by diagnostic mammogram.  I wished I had them biopsied right from the start as 18 months after them being discovered, I ended up being diagnosed with IDC and IDS both grade 3.  I have Triple Ndegative Breast Cancer.
I had double mastectomies in October of 2011 and now going for my third round of Chemo.  If you have any doubts about the microcalcifications, insist on a biopsy.  Good luck to you
Kindly

Hi,
Calcifications that grow in a cluster are suspicious because they sometimes cluster around a mass. The appearance of  clustered calcification on x-ray, gives clues to the radiologist, but not definite answers,so it is standard procedure in most cases to biopsy the area because it's the only way to determine if cancer is present.
A family history of breast cancer doesn't mean that you will also have the same disease and it really counts only if your mother or sister have or had breast cancer.
Keep in mind that very often biopsies done on clustered calcifications return a benign finding, but if unfortunately it does not, then the cancer would be at a very early stage and very curable.
I hope that your biopsy results will be favorable.
Best wishes and good luck!...
