I really think you gave me good information. I am grateful for input I have been dealing with heart issues last few months something come up genetic unrelated to breast cancer so I have put the breast cancer concerns on the back burner. I just saw my oncologist three weeks ago she check me over great exam but I did not have the swelling then. I will let you know what I find out. Thank you so much. :)
Hi,
I am not sure, but it sounds like it could be Lymphedema, which is a collection of fluid that causes pain and swelling. If lymph nodes, in the axilla area, are biopsied or removed (even one) there is always a risk of developing lymphedema.
Secondary lymphedema can develop immediately post-operatively, or weeks, months, even years later.
Please see your Surgeon to make sure that the swelling is Lymphedema or not. If your Surgeon confirms it, I would urge you to consult a massage therapist as soon as possible that specializes in lymphedema treatment. These therapists have been specially trained to do the massage correctly. If neglected, your condition might get worse since there is no cure for lymphedema, but it can be controlled if treated promptly.
Best wishes...
