***biopsy complications?***

Hi All
Im Rachy 35 years old 2 children 12 and 17 .. I have on going neurological problems other than this im in good health ..

It all started with redness and pain of the breast about 12 weeks ago .. went to GP and she told me it looked infected and put me on a course of antibiotics .. 2 weeks later my breast got bigger and more painful .. yet another course of antibiotics .. then it looked like an Abscess . Week 4 still on antibiotics and the abcsess burst with blood and puss ..

Went back to GP a week later it was still bleeding and VERY painful .. I was sent to have an ultrasound scan which showed a mass .. I was booked in the day after for surgery ...

The breast specialist said its a cyst thats got infected it has to be removed and sent for biopsy so they did this there and then .. packed the wound and sent me home ..

For two weeks I had nurses coming to my home daily to pack and clean my wound (ouch ouch ouch) it seemed to be healing lovely ... week 4 the wound site is very sore and my nipple area is throbbing and very painful to touch.. the wound is also starting to bleed .. has anyone ever had this problem after surgery? It dont seem to want to heal over ?

Could it be infected? I am seeing specialist for a checkup and results in 3 weeks time and I am scared ..

Please advise
Thanks in advance Rachy x

Thanks for the update!

I'm glad it doesn't appear infected.

It's great that you use your crutches instead of the wheelchair when possible, but right now that would certainly strain the delicate tissues that need time to heal.

I look forward to hearing what the breast specialist has to say at your return visit.

Regards,
bb

Thanks bluebutterfly2222

I went to GP today and she had a good look ..she dont think theres any infection but she said it looks swollen so I have to go back next week for another check.. She also said that she thinks its not healing as I am straining the wound using my crutches to walk..I caused the wound to re-open and bleed. I have to get plenty of rest and use my wheelchair for long distance so I can give the wound time to heal. My fault for over doing things too soon .. I have an appointment with specialist in a few weeks to have my breast scanned to check theres nothing left behind .
I will keep you updated :)
Thanks again

Hi,

Since the healing was going well for a couple of weeks, but you are now having complications, it would be a good idea to get in touch with your surgeon's office for a recheck NOW, rather than waiting another 3 weeks for the scheduled appt. It could be infection which needs treatment to prevent it from worsening/spreading, but only the exam by the doctor can tell for sure.

Please keep us posted regarding what you find out, by adding additional comments to this same thread.

Best wishes...
