What I meant was that the day you have your mammogram make the date coincide approximately when your period has ended and not before your periods are supposed to start. If Tylenol doesn't work very well for you, try something a bit stronger like Advil or Ibubofrin.Of course hormones play a big role in breast sensitivity especially if we have a cyst or Fibroadenoma .
After my period? I should be starting soon. I wonder if hormones could cause this. I am 46 and my periods are starting to change. Last month I barely had a period. I had all the pain alays associated with my cycle but hardly any blood. I take alot of Tylenol anyway, it does not help. Thank you.
Good for you! Try to get an appointment AFTER your periods have ended. The breasts are less sensitive then.I would also take over the counter painkillers, like Tylenol, before the procedure.Mammograms are not that pleasant, but they are not that terrible either. The pressure lasts only seconds.Good luck dear and may all go well for you.
Like I said, I have never had a mammogram. I have heard about them, they sound very painful. I am calling the health dept. monday, see if I can get an appt.. Thanks!
Japdip is right, you should have some testing done to find out about the nature of this lump. You know that yearly mammograms are recommended by the time we reach 40.If you don't have health insurance, maybe this information below, can help you.

If you do not have health insurance, you can try to find a center that offers low-cost or free mammograms. Contact the National Cancer Institute (1-800-4-CANCER) or the American Cancer Society (1-800-ACS-2345) for assistance. Another option is the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (1-888-842-6355), which provides low-cost or free cancer screenings for women without health insurance.
Hey, thanks for answering me. I have also heard not to associate pain with cancer( in the beginning anyway). Today the lump is definately still there. The pain has eased a bit. It still hurts bad when I touch it. I know I need a mammogram, I am 46 and never had one before. I have no health insurance so it is hard to get decent care. I use the Health Dept. alot but they said themselves, there is only so far they can go as far as treatment. Been there b/4 regarding my ovarian cysts. They can tell me the cysts are still there but can't remove them! That is another story in itself! lol Thanks again, L.
I would doubt breast cancer in something that came on so suddenly. This could be a cyst, Fibroadenoma or an abscess as all of these would cause considerable discomfort. I would certainly advise you to see your Dr. for a clinical breast exam and any other testing that may be needed such as an ultrasound or Mammogram. The sooner you get some treatment or advice the better. Regards .....
