Thank you so much for your reply, I feel much better now. To answer your question, I don't think there was any trauma to my arm or anything else on that side of the body recently. I slightly hurt my back about 6 or 7 years ago on that side. This past November when we were moving I started getting pains and such in that arm and then down my leg. I thought I was having a heart attack but the the er doc said I was just fine. Since then the aches, cramps, tingling, cold sensations and such have gotten worse and expanded to the shoulder, neck back, armpit and rib area. My left side of my chest does hurt at times and I think I am having a heart attack, but again the cardiologist says it is just fine. Is it possible to have some sort of infection in your muscles or nerves or something?
Hi,
It is good that your mom agreed with her mammogram. Was there any trauma to your upper body recently? The most common sign of breast cancer is a lump or thickening in the breast. Other potential signs of breast cancer include: a spontaneous clear or bloody discharge from the nipple, retraction or indentation of your nipple, a change in the size or contours of the breast, flattening or indentation of the skin over the breast or redness or pitting of the skin over your breast.
The neck and shoulders can exhibit much the same difficulties as the lower back, such as pulled muscles, disc problems, arthritis, and other issues. With your signs and symptoms, pain in your arm, back, shoulder and neck does not usually pertains to breast cancer diagnosis. It would be best to see your doctor for clinical assessment and physical examination to rule out other causes. Take care and keep us posted.
I only know of one person in my family that has had cancer and it was a distant great uncle or cousin or something. I talked to my mom today and asked her about her breast health and she said that when she goes to have yearly paps they always give her the paperwork to go and get a mammogram but she has never done it. She is 47 so I begged her to get one done. She said she would this time.
I definatley feel like I am sick or something. I don't have a sore throat or anything but I am tired and achey and have headaches and such. I only have swelling lymph nodes or whatever it is on my left side, which is where all my arm and shoulder pain. This worries me.
Hi,
An armpit lump refers to enlargement of one or more lymph nodes under the arm. Lumps in the armpit have various causes. Cysts and infections on the surface of the skin of the armpit may be caused by shaving or use of antiperspirants Abscesses under the skin may also produce large, painful lumps in the armpit. This may also occur as a result of bacterial or viral infections, vaccinations , and cancer. There is a higher risk of cancer if the mother or siblings are diagnosed. It is good you'll be having the ultrasound. This will help with the diagnosis and rule out certain causes. Take care and keep us posted with the result.
I too have found a lump under my arm. I went to the doc today but she couldn't tell if it was a swollen lymph node or an actually lump in the breast tissue. My entire arm/shoulderback/ribs and neck on that side of my body aches. I am having a diagnostic mamogram and sonogram this Friday. I am a little freaked out too but don't know what to do about it.
