Reason for concern?

I am 33 years old and have had two mamograms in the past and one lumpectomy (benign).  It has now been a year and a half since my last mamo but I religiously do self breast exams. So here is my question/issue.  Three months ago I felt a little hard lump that was no different than the surrounding tissue except that it was hard - lock a rock.  I have been keeping an eye on it and there has been no change....until this month.  It has tripled in size and is oblong and still as hard as a rock.  My dilemma - I have recently lost 17 pounds (i am dieting and excersigin) and I wonder if this lump has been the same size all along but I can just feel more of it now that my fat is going away.  Thoughts?  Should I go to the Dr. to have it checked out or keep an eye on it and check again next month?

Thank you

'Yes', and 'No'...but from what you say now, obviously it has grown. i would just see the doctor because you are due anyway? And, because it hard, and has grown, and there. And i trust your concern. Katrin

so you think I probably just feel it more now that I am thinner?  Interesting note though...I haven't lost any weight in my breasts! Although I wish I would  :)

I would have it checked out, flmommyof2, but not with too much worry. Kat
