My male cat, who is about a year and three months, recently had an abscess that we got drained by a vet. He is normally an outdoor cat, but we have had to keep him inside until his wound ( from draining the abscess) is healed. So I noticed his poop is extremely fowl smelling. I've never been a victim to his droppings, as he has always pooped in someone else's yard, but now that he is pooping in his litter box inside I see that his poop appears to have, what I think is, mold on it. As soon as he pooped it out( literally, I watched him poop ) it looked like it had spots of green, and it was terrible smelling.(Not that poop ever smells nice, this is truly awful) He is taking baytrill 22mg as an antibiotic, and he had been taking pain syringes, Buprenorphine, but we are no longer giving him the syringes. ( as of 4 days ago)
It may not be mold, but his poop does have some green in it, and does seem a little mushie. We did not change his food, however we fed him very small cat treats, they are smaller than a penny and we only give him 4 or 5 at the same time, once a day. He has used a litter box before, he had one on our patio, so he is use to the litter and normal cat food. Could it be the medicine, or treats we are giving him? Is it imperative that I see a vet about this, or should I stop giving him the treats and wait to see? Other than the poop, I do not notice any change in his behavior. He eats and drinks regularly, and he is still active and vocal.Thank you so much for your time, I really appreciate it
