Cat jaw problems

I took my 16 year old cat to the vets prior to moving house last month as her jaw appeared to be distorted and she was drooling but otherwise seemed happy and eating well. My Vet said that she had a large bony lump on her lower jaw which was most likely cancerous, that she wouldnt survive a biopsy or operation and that I shouldnt take her with me when I move. I did take her with me and she has settled in well, still eating but very 'vocal' and quite clingy to me. I've been reading on here about abcesses, she did have a wound on her chin a couple of years ago which burst, could this have been the start of her problems? I was told to just keep her comfortable but dont know if she actually has cancer or is in pain, she doesnt tolerate cat boxes and car journeys so worry a trip to the vets may be too much for her, any advice?

When he adopted me, my cat had red lumps in the back of his mouth that kept him from closing his mouth. He drooled all down his chest. The vet thought it was cancer. But after he removed them and sent them off, the path report said they were masses of bacteria and inflammatory cells. My cat did fine. About 18 months later, some small lumps came back, and the vet removed them again. It's been 4 years since then and they haven't come back and my cat is fine. So even if the vet thinks it's cancer, it might not be. I'd get a second opinion.

sorry for your kitties issues, did the Vet have a good look at her teeth? I'm asking b/c this could very well be cancer but it could also be an infected or abscessed tooth. In any case this poor kitty is in one H of alot of pain and its makes me scream that this Vet didn't prescribe any pain meds for her....you know yourself how painful a toothache is and kitties don't show pain well at all, some even DO continue to somehow eat...please please please take this poor little thing to a new Vet in your new area and get some pain control for her and a good mouth exam which would be a second opinion....regardless of the dx she needs some pain meds. btw. BURPRENEX is the best one for kitties with nerve/dental issues and is well tolerated.
good luck to you little girls♥
