Cat with Kidney Desand stomach acid

Hello

My cat is almost 11 years old, never had a health problem and 3 months ago went down with a kidney infection that left him with only 30% left of kidney tissue. He is now on Hills K/D prescribed diet and Rubenal 75. He is doing well. He has appetite for the dry food but no so much for the wet food. In fact he licks the gravy only or sniff it and walks away. He burps after eating his dry food, eats quite often grass and sits now on the hunched up more often than before. He had an episode of vomiting twice 1 month ago , mainly water or foam and went to the vet who performed a urine test for infection but it was negative. The vomiting stopped after I changed his Royal Cannin K/D to Hills  and what I believe in here is that he has stomach acid based on his CKD condition. Could I give him slippery elm bark? I have read that is very good for cats who have CKD as it will nourish the stomach. Would it be ok to give him this when he is also having Rubenal?
The doses I have read is for a 4.5 kgs cat to do a 5ml paste (you mix the powder with water and store for 5 days in the fridge giving only 5ml to the cat 1 hour before meals and never together with other medication as it may interfere) . My cat is 5.2Kgs so around 5ml should be fine. What do you think?
Thank you very much for your help.

I can see no reason he couldn't take the slippery elm bark as long as like you posted a min. of 1 hour before or after meals so it doesn't interfere with absorption, you can start with the 5ml. and if that doesn't seem to be enough you can give that amount 3x a day...its very good for upset tummies:)

I would strongly suggest you keep up trying to feed him wet food, dry food is very hard on the urinary tract especially with males....and try ones that are not gravy based as the gravy is very high in carbs..

I am going to recommend a site that has tons of info on CRF . best of luck to you both.
